Sea Bright Fire Rescue responded to the beach at the 300 block of Ocean Ave. early this afternoon for the report of an overturned boat at water's edge on the beach.
The 31 ft. fiberglass boat appeared to be new. There was no one with the boat, and it was reported to have no registration markings. The upside down boat could not quickly be righted, so entrance and search were accomplished by cutting through the hull. Interior search was negative, except for what appeared to be an article of clothing which was brought out. A HazMat team was dispatched to the scene due to leaking fuel.
The vessel was turned upright after the arrival of heavy equipment from the Dept. of Public Works. An investigation is underway by the NJ State Police and The Coast Guard.
